What a Milford mulch job usually looks like
A typical Milford property takes seven to eight yards. That is the number we quote most often here, and it is a useful sanity check before you order: if you have worked out something wildly different, it is worth measuring again with the mulch calculator.
The install is not just a drop-off. Beds get cleared of last year’s debris and any weeds that have taken hold, the edges get re-cut so the mulch has something to sit against, and the material is worked in around plants by hand rather than dumped and raked flat.
Book before the April rush
Milford’s mulch season is sharp and short. April through the 4th of July is when almost everybody wants it done, and the calendar fills from the front. Booking before the rush is the difference between picking your week and taking what is left.
Book whenever suits you. If you are a Bro Bank member it is easier still — request the service in your client portal and we take it from there.
Why three inches, and why not against the trunk
Three inches is the number that matters. Thinner than two and weeds push through and the soil dries out, which is the whole point of mulching. Thicker than four and water struggles to reach the roots.
We also keep mulch off the trunks. Piling it against a tree traps moisture on the bark, and over a few seasons that rots the collar and invites pests. A flat ring with the trunk flare visible is what a tree actually wants.
