This Is Not a Summer Job.

Get paid to learn how to run a business — real crews, real clients, real responsibility, and a ladder from Crew Member to GM you climb as fast as you earn it.

Admission is by application only. Each location's 2027 Class is capped — and not everyone who applies gets in.

1,000 College Students. Real Leadership. High Pay.

Our mission is to provide 1,000 college students with jobs that build leadership and real business skills — with high compensation to match. Not many companies hand college-age students actual positions of leadership and responsibility. We do, because of one simple conviction:

"Tell a young man how to do a job and he will get it done. Give him a responsibility and he will find the best way to do it." — Mulch Bros

What Makes This Different

Mulch Bros is built as a leadership program first and a landscaping company second. Here's what sets it apart from every other summer job:

Performance-Based Pay

Nobody here is paid to just clock hours. The harder and smarter your crew works, the more you earn — on top of a guaranteed hourly rate.

Real Skill Development

Sales, pricing, managing costs and labor, reading a P&L — the actual skills of running a business, taught level by level.

High-Impact Decisions

Leaders here aren't decoration. You'll be included in the decisions that shape how your location actually runs.

Trust & Responsibility

Crew Leads run jobsites. Sales Bros own their quotes. GMs run the whole location. Trust is extended early — and expected to be earned.

A Path to Profit Share

The ladder tops out at General Manager — a seasonal salary plus a real share of your location's profit. Ownership economics, not just a title.

Four Rungs. Nobody Skips.

Every Bro walks the same ladder — on purpose. Every leader here has done the job of the person they lead. Promotions are earned on performance, not tenure, and they can happen within a single season.

Crew Member

Boots on the ground

Learn the trade on a real crew — mulch, edging, cleanups — and build work ethic, speed, and quality control that shows up in everything you do after.

Guaranteed hourly rate + performance bonuses

Crew Lead

Runs the jobsite

Your first real leadership rep. You own the crew's pace and quality, work directly with clients, and learn time management, staffing, and the basics of business decision-making.

Higher base + larger performance bonuses

Sales Bro

Owns pricing & the client relationship

Quote real jobs in the field. Master sales conversations, pricing discipline, and the numbers behind the business — because you've already done the work you're quoting.

Escalating commission on the jobs you close

General Manager ("Super Bro")

Runs the whole location

Crew, sales, budget, customer experience — the entire operation is yours. By the time you're here, running a P&L isn't new. It's what you've been training for.

Seasonal salary + share of location profit

The Five Core Values of a Bro

These aren't slogans you hear once at onboarding. They're how we think, act, plan, hire, and promote.

Happy-Go-Lucky

Personable and excited to be here. You show up ready to encourage your team and you genuinely enjoy talking with clients.

No Weed Untouched

High attention to detail and a seriousness about the work. You'd never leave a weed in a client's yard — literally or otherwise.

Dusk till Dawn

The hunger and commitment of our very best Bros — willing to work hard, sweat, and be tired for the team and your own success.

Speak Your Mind

If you see a way we can improve, it's your responsibility to say it. Some of our best changes came from crew members speaking up.

Coachable

The most important one. Ask the "stupid" questions, listen well, take feedback, and don't be married to your own way.

Skills You'll Leave With

These aren't landscaping skills. They're the actual curriculum — abilities that transfer directly into any career and teach you to think like an entrepreneur.

Leading teams of your peers
Running leadership meetings
Setting and achieving goals
Negotiating with suppliers
Coordinating jobsites
Managing cost and labor
Solving problems systematically
Discipline, focus & follow-through

Read This Before You Text Us

We hold brutal standards on purpose. Here's exactly what you're signing up for:

  • This is a full-time commitment during the season — a minimum of 40 hours a week, treated like a professional leadership role.
  • The active season runs mid-April through the end of July, with Bro Bootcamp — our mandatory onboarding event — each December.
  • You will sweat, be tired, and want to quit at times. That's the moment you grow. We prioritize rest days and keeping every Bro fueled — but the work is real.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and the Core Values are tracked and factor directly into promotions. Showing up is the price of admission.

If that fires you up instead of scaring you off — you might be a Bro.

Not Everyone Gets In. This Is the Selection Process.

We hold brutal standards on purpose. Every applicant goes through the same gates, each location's 2027 Class is capped, and admissions are rolling — the earlier you apply, the better your odds.

Questions Future Bros Ask

Do I need landscaping experience?

No. Every Bro is trained from day one with a structured Day 1, Week 1, and Month 1 onboarding path. We hire for character and coachability, not experience.

When does the season run?

The active season runs mid-April through the end of July — perfectly built around a college schedule. During the season it's a full-time commitment of at least 40 hours a week. New Bros also attend Bro Bootcamp each December.

How fast can I get promoted?

Promotions are earned on performance, not tenure. Bros can move from Crew Member to Crew Lead within a single season, then into Sales and General Manager roles in the seasons after. Nobody skips rungs — and nobody waits in line behind someone who's coasting.

How does pay work?

Every Crew Member earns a guaranteed hourly rate no matter what, plus performance bonuses tied to the jobs their crew completes. As you climb, the upside grows: Crew Leads earn a higher base and bigger bonuses, Sales Bros earn escalating commission, and General Managers earn a seasonal salary plus a share of their location's profit. We'll walk you through the exact numbers during your interview.

What is Bro Bootcamp?

Bro Bootcamp is our mandatory onboarding event each December — a full immersion in our culture, systems, and the Mulch Bros way of doing things. You'll hear directly from experienced Bros and our founders, and leave knowing exactly how to grow your leadership and your finances inside the company.

How do I apply?
